A few sparrows from recent trip to Fort Davis area.
16 Sparrow species for the trip. No luck on the Baird’s despite many hours of walking the roads. The quest continues!!!
I find the Lark Bunting to be so photogenic!! My favorite sparrow.

Here’s a courtship or territorial display of the Cooper’s Hawk. He climbed higher and higher and spread white feathers at the base of the tail, then very deliberately flapped wings up all the way , then all the way down. Cool sight to see!! LE Woods picnic grounds, Davis Mountains, 3/17/25.
We dipped on the Henslows yesterday in the wind (I shall return!!), but Lance, Flo and I had a good day hunting through Aggie land marshes and sod farms. Once again just as i dreamed!! Was able to get this Baird’s sparrow with perfect background in Davis mountains today!! (Note: early April Fools dad joke!)
