Choke Canyon & the Notorious RGV Scorecard:
Choke stakeout, 3 hours — +1 to Texas list (Spotted Rail)
Bird Lake Falcon: nice gulls
McAllan Nature Center stakeout, 2.5 hours — +1 to life list (Hermit Warbler) (unless we saw in Guatemala, can’t remember).
Estero Llano, 45 minute stakeout — +1 to Texas List (Elegant Trogon).
Bentsen, 3 mile hike, + 3 hour stakeout — dipped on target (Pacific-slope flycatcher), but nice and quiet.
Quinta Mazatlan, 5 hour stakeout, dipped on target (Pacific-slope flycatcher), but nice birding.
A great trip sleeping in the Bushwhacker at Choke Canyon and Falcon State Parks. I was pleased to see how green Bentzen was (my favorite park).
