Sandhills about to hit a norther today: fallout!!!

On Saturday Eric texted me about Franklin’s gulls at Hornsby and I was sorry to miss. But on Sunday driving back from Dallas I hit the mother-lode!!!! I watched for at least 45 minutes and guestimated 3000-4000 gulls went by!! What a blast!!! And you’ll never guess the wonderful nature setting where I witnessed this………………………………….
I estimated 330 Wilson’s phalarope at Hornsby in this flock, about 100 in a 2nd flock yesterday. 12 shorebird species.
Fall migration is in the air! Dickcissels and at least 4 upland sandpipers going over on this morning’s walk.
Several first of season for me today at my place. Cranes, w throat sparrow, hermit thrush, mr Lincoln, spot towhee and just now woodcock. It don’t hurt much
I won’t say it will lead to birds on the ground for us ( having learned my lesson?). But I’m hopeful for Thursday and Friday
Allan and I headed out to Granger area yesterday on our semi-regular NED (Nature Exploration Day).
