Here’s a few of the regular crowd from the Davis Mountains.
Love these colorful, chunky grasshoppers in Davis Mountains this time of year. They’re called Plains Lubber Grasshoppers. Also a couple of young birds for someone to ID.
Was in Davis Mountains week of the 4th. Here’s a couple of nice ones.
Just back from a few days at Fort Davis. Stopped in at Sandia Wetlands (a nice stop just off I10) and Lake Balmorhea and had 9 species of shorebird. Killdeer, BN Stilt, Avocet, Wilson’s Phal, Spotted Sand, Western Sand (flyby), Upland Sand (several flyovers), Greater yellowlegs and my fav: fly right over the head 12…
I spent the last week in Davis Mountains. Here’s a few locals. Having heard of 88 mountain plovers near San Angelo, I detoured that direction on the way home and found about a dozen on a cold and rainy morning. Nice turf farm there on Susan Peak road. See map below if you want to…
