Platte Lane
Walked Platte Lane area of Hornsby this morning. Pretty slow, but we were jawing.
Did get Least and Yellow-bellied flycatchers, which was a pleasure to ID confidently!! Didn’t try for pix.
Anybody else out birding?

And a few other birds from this morn.
This is a juvenile Green Heron from Hornsby this morning. It was hunting water bugs. The Green Heron was the first bird I identified by myself at age 10. In the 51 years between then and now I don’t think I’ve ever noticed a juvenile green Heron before.
Here’s 2 habits I’d like ya’ll to start working on (if you don’t already do).
Several first of season for me today at my place. Cranes, w throat sparrow, hermit thrush, mr Lincoln, spot towhee and just now woodcock. It don’t hurt much
Thanks to Suzie for getting me on this article by Kenn Kaufman that explains White-throated Sparrows morphs. Fascinating!! Audubon Magazine Article
