So just had a very cool migration experience!!! I’m guessing 200 scissor tail flycatchers at leander HEB swirling around ti roost (pretending ti be martins).
Plumbeous V gazes into distances ……..”thar be Empids out thar!!!”
Spent about 4 hours on morning of November 9 staking out Santa Elena canyon overlook with a buddy and some pleasant fellow birders trying to see nutting’s flycatcher. Had to settle for heard only but we heard it about 10 times and have no doubts.
Another great trip to High Island with Eric and others!!! Witnessing a fallout happen was amazing!!!
Migration is happening!! Tons of yellow warblers and gnatcatchers at Hornsby and a few others sprinkled in like Clay-colored Sparrow and a Flycatcher someone can ID. Also 14 species of shorebirds including Avocets and Semipalm Plovers.
When our VECAL FT bidders canceled this morning, Eric and I walked around Hornsby on our own. Nice to see some ducks on the ponds, lots of butter butts, blue head vireo, and other regulars.
