Massive Flight of Cormarants
Several places on the Gulls Field trip we had very large numbers of birds. Here’s only 1/2 of a huge flight of cormorants that flew by us on the Texas city Dike.
Anybody volunteer to count them?

High Island Termite Hatch
Our group in High Island really enjoyed this hatch of termites in Smith Oaks!! Brought in many passerines. I guess we spent 30 minutes watching.
Harlequin Ducks NO
Virginia and I made a quick trip to corpus yesterday for 3 gulls and a duck. Our score on target birds? 0 for 4!! But none the less a great day!!! Especially seeing these early migrants under perfect lighting conditions, in leafless trees at eye level!! DOWN WITH WOBBLER-NECK !!!! (new bumper sticker?)
Brown Noddy
We happened to be in Corpus over the weekend so stopped in to see this Brown Noddy that had been hanging around. Sadly he was taken in for rehab just after we saw, but later died.
Iceland Gull YES
And finally, here’s another cool gull from Corpus. It took me 7 tries over the past 3 years to finally get this gull. He’s been returning to a bait shop there for at least that long. Also compared to Herring in 1 pix.
