Here’s a comparison of Semipalmated with a Least. So I think we can see actual black legs here on this sandpiper. It’s a short-winged bird; wings are just atop tail. Dipped (for the 5th time) on CAGU in Texas — the search continues. Meanwhile these guys are always nice to see.
After the gull I drove 2 hours north from Amarillo (who knew there were still 2 hours of Texas north of Amarillo?) for the reported Pine Grosbeak — new for my Texas list. Spent about 20 minutes photographing this lovely bird.
