Here’s a comparison of Semipalmated with a Least. So I think we can see actual black legs here on this sandpiper. It’s a short-winged bird; wings are just atop tail. Of the 39 species we cover in class, I’ve seen 22 at Hornsby in about the past month. The only thing I think I’ve missed was Black-bellied Plover. The only other things that might have been reasonable at Hornsby over that time are Willet, Short-billed Dow and maybe, maybe a Dunlin. Of course I was…
