Hornsby Field Trip Empids Class
Here’s an Empid (and friends) we had on field trip today. Maybe someone else can post the other flycatcher (which I neglected to get pix of).

I have a couple. This first one is from NE Oregon on 6/21/22, in Wallawa mountains at 6500 feet in meadows with trees adjacent to pine/oak woodlands. There were at least 5 of the same species within a few 100 yards of each other vocalizing many times.
Spent about 4 hours on morning of November 9 staking out Santa Elena canyon overlook with a buddy and some pleasant fellow birders trying to see nutting’s flycatcher. Had to settle for heard only but we heard it about 10 times and have no doubts.
And finally, here’s another cool gull from Corpus. It took me 7 tries over the past 3 years to finally get this gull. He’s been returning to a bait shop there for at least that long. Also compared to Herring in 1 pix.
Here’s the first bird I laid eyes on at Hornsby this morning. And another I finally got some decent pix of.
Always something new dropping into Hornsby this time of year!!! 3 new species for 2023 for me at Hornsby today. Love migration!!! And Killdeer already have a chick!! What do ya’ll think about the 4 Ibis?
This was cool at Hornsby this morning!!
