Several first of season for me today at my place. Cranes, w throat sparrow, hermit thrush, mr Lincoln, spot towhee and just now woodcock. It don’t hurt much
Eric and I made a little side trip to the Rio Grande Valley to get the most common bird neither of us had on our life lists for Texas. Anyone want to ID Mr Scruffy here?
Had clay colored sparrow and black chin hummer for first time this spring at the dacha. Fos white eyed vireo this week. Still have 4 species of winter sparrows, su skins and spot towhee.
Allan and I headed out to Granger area yesterday on our semi-regular NED (Nature Exploration Day). Love these colorful, chunky grasshoppers in Davis Mountains this time of year. They’re called Plains Lubber Grasshoppers. Also a couple of young birds for someone to ID.
