Here’s a comparison of Semipalmated with a Least. So I think we can see actual black legs here on this sandpiper. It’s a short-winged bird; wings are just atop tail. Bill is short and pretty straight. Overall coloration is fairly pale, not brown. Baird’s and Least are brown-hued birds. Both also have a chest coloration…
Interesting Blue Jay vocalizations this morning in Hyde Park on my walk. 20-30 blue jays over a 100-125 yards were all making the same teedle call. Went on for over 5 minutes. Also some of the clicking or croaking noise they make. Since FB doesn’t have an easy way to add mp3 file, ill email…

I enjoyed Cin Ty Lee’s presentation on Empids at TOS!! He’s got some good material on his website: http://www.cintylee.org/#/guiding-services/ I also notice that Butter Butt’s are scarfing down crushed pecans in the street in several locations.
So just had a very cool migration experience!!! I’m guessing 200 scissor tail flycatchers at leander HEB swirling around ti roost (pretending ti be martins).
Another question for 2022 gulls class: with these long narrow wings with black wingtips I thought I had what species? But what species is it actually?
