and a few more.
I have a couple. This first one is from NE Oregon on 6/21/22, in Wallawa mountains at 6500 feet in meadows with trees adjacent to pine/oak woodlands. There were at least 5 of the same species within a few 100 yards of each other vocalizing many times.
Western bluebirds still on CR 207 1/2 mile from the dacha. Chased half heartedly by kestrel. 10-12 of them.
A chance to practice your silhouettes (and to be amazed that Plumbeous V can spell silhouette!). Only had 1 HO empid on this trip thus far. Near Cuba, NM. Not sure species.
We considered this woodpecker for Hairy, but as we decided in the field, I still think Downy, but it is worth a look. Here’s part of what Sibley says. Anyone disagree? Article by David A. Sibley
This is for last year, but I wanted to bring your attention to an interesting website (of which you may already be aware). http://www.jeaniron.ca/2019/wff19.htm Keep your eyes open for 20/21 prediction. JeP PS I’m in the process of querying my mentors on a Winter Sparrow Forecast for Texas. Will keep you posted if anything interesting…
