Forgot to post this one: I’ve tried to see the planet Mercury off and on for about the last 50 years. Being the closest planet to the sun, it is usually in sun or city glare. In March out in the clear skies of the Davis Mountains I finally succeeded!!! Here’s a greatly zoomed in…
A few sparrows from recent trip to Fort Davis area. 16 Sparrow species for the trip. No luck on the Baird’s despite many hours of walking the roads. The quest continues!!! I find the Lark Bunting to be so photogenic!! My favorite sparrow.
Here’s a few from the Davis mountains last week.
Stopped at Sandia Wetlands near Balmorhea for another shorebird fix. 6 species of shorebirds. Phalaropes are just so photogenic!!
Then some Trans Pecos mammals and weather.
Got the Breeding Bird Survey near Marfa done for 2023 yesterday with my buddy Allan. It was a good year!! Many of the species that were down during drought seemed to have come back!!
