I estimated 330 Wilson’s phalarope at Hornsby in this flock, about 100 in a 2nd flock yesterday. 12 shorebird species.
This is birdcast’s way of saying “stay frosty!”
It was a pleasure to see multiple wobblers and some sidekicks today at Mills Pond with Virginia. Nice warm up for High Island!!
So just had a very cool migration experience!!! I’m guessing 200 scissor tail flycatchers at leander HEB swirling around ti roost (pretending ti be martins).
Allan and I headed out to Granger area yesterday on our semi-regular NED (Nature Exploration Day). We came across some nice shorebird habitats in wet fields and had 6 shorebird species for the morning. So shorebird season is ON!!! Here’s a few easy-peasy to ID. Birdcast. I should say that just because conditions are good for migration, doesn’t mean we see them on the ground. But it’s a good time to look.
