I couldn’t sit still with so many rare birds present in Texas — especially when one was a first state record Gull !!!! So I opted for Amarillo (rather than RGV at the moment). I put in 8 hours of stakeout time for the Yellow-footed Gull in Amarillo yesterday and today and it paid off…
Dipped (for the 5th time) on CAGU in Texas — the search continues. Meanwhile these guys are always nice to see.
Spent about 4 hours on morning of November 9 staking out Santa Elena canyon overlook with a buddy and some pleasant fellow birders trying to see nutting’s flycatcher. Had to settle for heard only but we heard it about 10 times and have no doubts.

Here’s the target of my trip to Galveston — Yellow headed Cara Cara. Like the Kelp Gull he’s up from South America.
