Platte Lane
Walked Platte Lane area of Hornsby this morning. Pretty slow, but we were jawing.
Did get Least and Yellow-bellied flycatchers, which was a pleasure to ID confidently!! Didn’t try for pix.
Anybody else out birding?

Here’s my second lifer of the trip. Also from near Lincoln, Montana in same burned woodlands. Although we didn’t study this one in B3, I think you can figure it out
Here’s a little jewel!!! Lance and I got them just in time for Empids class. By Cin-Ty Lee and Andrew Birch I’ve not had time to review it thoroughly, but the simplicity of presentation and Andrew Birch’s beautiful paintings already impress me!!
Am I prophetic?
Amar Ayash is requesting new members for “North American Gulls”– you guys should sign up!!!
I enjoyed Cin Ty Lee’s presentation on Empids at TOS!! He’s got some good material on his website: http://www.cintylee.org/#/guiding-services/ I also notice that Butter Butt’s are scarfing down crushed pecans in the street in several locations.
I believe virtual sparrow fest is free this year. https://www.friendsofbalcones.org/event-4122116. Sign up and see what Dr Birdy and friends can find on the refuge. Try googling sparrowfest 2021 if link above doesn’t work.
