Migration !!! Had a few hundred of these guys near La Grange yesterday. Then I stopped by Hornsby about noon and it was almost devoid of shorebird habitat. Water is up and meets the grass, so no “shore”. I did manage to find 3 of the the “big 4”: Least, Killdeer & Spotted.
We recently read a very good book called “Orison for a Curlew”(Orison = prayer). It’s about the Slender-billed Curlew of Europe. Some of the narrative took us to places we had birded in Bulgaria. Also took me about 30 seconds to add this Brown Booby in Aggieland a couple of weeks ago to my Texas list. Only bird on the lake. Same trip as the Limpkin, I was on a roll!!! 60 seconds of birding and added 2.

Saw some rain coming yesterday so headed to Hornsby for another shorebird and migrant fix!!
