4th time was a charm for me with the Pacific-slope flycatcher in Texas. Staked out the area with about 5 other birders for 2.5 hours and he made a brief appearance. Then I waited another 90 minutes to try for unobscured pix. He made one more appearance and this is the best I got (he’s…
After birding in the wind and rain most of the day, watching this Merlin eat his meal in the hot tub at Mary’s (us in the hot tub, not the merlin) was quite copacetic!!!

Up in oregon now. I’ve heard Dusky, Cordilliran and pacific slope flycatchers by sound and location. Pix have been tough!! Golden eagle fly by yesterday. I love waking and going to sleep to the songs of Hermit and Swainson’s Thrushes. Glad we got up to the pacific NW to escape the heat
