With North wind coming on I decided to go watch for migrants at Granger Lake. I was not disappointed!!
Spotted towhee, numerous Lincoln, white crown, white throated and chippys at the dacha still today. White eye and yellow throat vireos showed up about a week ago. Summer Tanager first seen on Friday. No sign of great crest fly yet.
Suggest we keep an eye on the birdcast website over the next few nights and during the rest of fall migration.
Since I’m going to attempt to teach a few gulls next class here’s a reminder: it’s about time to be on the lookout (and listen-out) for franklin’s gulls. They migrate from prairie nesting sites To west coast of South America. Right over cen Tex. Also listen for another iconic sound of fall migration—Sandhill cranes!!
Another great trip to High Island with Eric and others!!! Witnessing a fallout happen was amazing!!!
Mills pond today. Do you remember what to look for? 2 birds.
