We dipped on the Henslows yesterday in the wind (I shall return!!), but Lance, Flo and I had a good day hunting through Aggie land marshes and sod farms.
Highlights: Great looks at colorful swamp, song, Leconte’s and Savannah sparrows and poor looks (through cameras and hand held scope) of a handful of very distant Lapland Longspurs from the car.
Kudos to Lance who wouldn’t accept “All I see are Pipits” until he materialized some Longspurs and later Horned Larks!!!
Here’s the other nice find of the IDDGG Class FT. Seen on Saturday morning by all participants I believe. Again if you were present lets let others ID it.
Virginia and I made a quick trip to corpus yesterday for 3 gulls and a duck. Our score on target birds? 0 for 4!! But none the less a great day!!! Especially seeing these early migrants under perfect lighting conditions, in leafless trees at eye level!! DOWN WITH WOBBLER-NECK !!!! (new bumper sticker?)
Once again just as i dreamed!! Was able to get this Baird’s sparrow with perfect background in Davis mountains today!! (Note: early April Fools dad joke!)

Been hunting for Baird’s Sparrow south of Marfa. Had 8 bogies, but can’t get them to sit up. Here’s the best “view” of a possible I’ve had. The quest continues!!! (Note: there’s no bird in the photo).
