Allan and I headed out to Granger area yesterday on our semi-regular NED (Nature Exploration Day). We came across some nice shorebird habitats in wet fields and had 6 shorebird species for the morning. So shorebird season is ON!!!
Here’s a few easy-peasy to ID. Didn’t get pix of several distant Am Golden Plover and a solitary Solitary.
Spent a 1/2 hour communing with a cooperative Bony!!
And had a nice lunch in the spring sunshine with some random old man!!!
Anybody else see this cool local visitor?
Night of September 21 looks like a doosie!!! I think I’ll go birding the morning of the 22nd.
Here’s another odd coloration on a Least Sandpiper from Hornsby yesterday. I had a similar one last year. The least in the back is more normal colored. The front one looked almost red in person.

On a walk in the neighborhood I had some nice birds today, ash throated, vermillion, scissors flys, grasshopper, lark, chippy, savanna and brewers sparrows, and black capped vireo. No pix.
Several first of season for me today at my place. Cranes, w throat sparrow, hermit thrush, mr Lincoln, spot towhee and just now woodcock. It don’t hurt much
