Seriously thinking about taking my yak out onto White Rock Lake next time!!! (For the gulls, not the girls!!) Roosting on the water in 1000s and weren’t disturbed by the rowers.
I was very happy this Little Gull showed up for about 20 minutes at Rollover Pass as I was watching terns. First time I’ve seen one since 1998. Unfortunately no one else was present!

Since I’m going to attempt to teach a few gulls next class here’s a reminder: it’s about time to be on the lookout (and listen-out) for franklin’s gulls. They migrate from prairie nesting sites To west coast of South America. Right over cen Tex. Also listen for another iconic sound of fall migration—Sandhill cranes!!
