Next few nights look good for migration through Texas!! I’ll be down at Hornsby ponds from about 7:00-10:00am tomorrow if anyone wants to join me. (Though so many times radar like this doesn’t pan out on the ground).

I set my self the task of trying to catch migrants in front of the moon
Since I’m going to attempt to teach a few gulls next class here’s a reminder: it’s about time to be on the lookout (and listen-out) for franklin’s gulls. They migrate from prairie nesting sites To west coast of South America. Right over cen Tex. Also listen for another iconic sound of fall migration—Sandhill cranes!!
Been uppies and dickcissels going over regularly in small numbers this morning at “The Dacha “. Also been hearing the snap of warbler bills in small groups. The ones I got on were yellow warblers. Pretty sure I heard the “ick” call of an oriole, but could not find him. And Dacha bird #137 is…………….what…
With North wind coming on I decided to go watch for migrants at Granger Lake. I was not disappointed!!
I had a great time at Granger Lake yesterday, sitting solo by the swim area watching migration go by!! No gulls at the swim area, but good numbers flying by and at 2 poorly accessible roosts.
