On a walk in the neighborhood I had some nice birds today, ash throated, vermillion, scissors flys, grasshopper, lark, chippy, savanna and brewers sparrows, and black capped vireo. No pix.
Indeed!!!
Spotted towhee, numerous Lincoln, white crown, white throated and chippys at the dacha still today. White eye and yellow throat vireos showed up about a week ago. Summer Tanager first seen on Friday. No sign of great crest fly yet.
Eric and I had an interesting time during April watching the radar for birds and especially cold fronts that might mean a fallout. I may be wrong, but I think this radar depiction shows migrating birds (light blue) and then an approaching cold front (April 20, 2025). The birds seem to shy away from the…
Just heard Sandhills going over Hyde park. (Photos from New Mexico, not Hyde Park).
I birded a bit on Post Oak, Alum Creek Road and vicinity this morning (Webberville park closed). Had a few migrants and first of seasons including 10 upland sandpipers (some singing), 4 YH Blackbirds, Franklin’s gulls, painted bunting, yellow throated, white-eye, red-eye vireos, northern parulas, pine warblers, and swainson’s hawk.
