Here’s a gull we found towards the end of our time at Texas City Dike on Gulls FT. Who can ID it? (Please stay mum if you were present for the sighting, at least till it is IDed).

Gull #3 for Gulls class. (Same day, location) Gull #3 is an Adult Herring. We can see that this is an adult gull. Pretty distant shot, but if you zoom in we don’t see any ring as in ring bill, but more telling the transition from gray underwing to black underwing tip is more gray-to-black…
I’ll also put in a plug for my “I don’t do gulls” gulls class. Starts in November when gulls generally start coming into Texas. I did the rudiments of Texas gulls in the B3 class. Really enjoyed this beautiful and cooperative gull !! I’ve decided Glaucous and Iceland are my favorites, until I see an Ivory or Ross’s at least!!
