Odd Pigment Least Sandpiper
Here’s another odd coloration on a Least Sandpiper from Hornsby yesterday. I had a similar one last year. The least in the back is more normal colored. The front one looked almost red in person.

Here’s a photo dump from Hornsby last night. Nearly all the birds are juveniles. Just imagine: they were hatched in July or August in Canada or Alaska and just flew a minimum of 2600 miles to get to Hornsby Bend so that I could take their Pix!!!! Thanks guys!! Question 1: How do I know…
a few from recent Hornsby visits.
I estimated 330 Wilson’s phalarope at Hornsby in this flock, about 100 in a 2nd flock yesterday. 12 shorebird species.
13 species of shorebirds at Hornsby yesterday including some very colorful birds. Also nice of them to build so much additional Spotted Sandpiper habitat!!
Ok, here’s today’s quiz photo!!! How many can you ID? Taken at Hornsby last night. Hint: there are 6 species.
With North wind coming on I decided to go watch for migrants at Granger Lake. I was not disappointed!!
