Last Glaucous pix for a bit!! I usually think of the Herring as a BIG GULL!! But I was impressed with the Glaucous next to the Herrings and Laughings!!
Someone just reported another gull from our “uncommon 7” list. Hoping a B3er will find one this winter!!
Since I’m going to attempt to teach a few gulls next class here’s a reminder: it’s about time to be on the lookout (and listen-out) for franklin’s gulls. They migrate from prairie nesting sites To west coast of South America. Right over cen Tex. Also listen for another iconic sound of fall migration—Sandhill cranes!!
Gull #5 (same date location). Species? Age? Gull #5 First cycle Ring-billed with pretty advanced feathers on the back – lot of adult gray coming in. Also note shape is perfect for ring bill.

PLEASE DON’T GIVE AWAY THE ANSWER YET!! Just answer with a “yes”, if you can ID this gull we had on our Field Trip in Galveston over the weekend.
