Remember Your Empids ?
I have a couple. This first one is from NE Oregon on 6/21/22, in Wallawa mountains at 6500 feet in meadows with trees adjacent to pine/oak woodlands. There were at least 5 of the same species within a few 100 yards of each other vocalizing many times.
Sandia Wetlands
No pix, but I stopped in Sandia Wetlands yesterday and had Upland sandpipers, LB Curlew, BN Stilts, Killdeer, Less Yellowlegs, and Solitary sandpipers. Titmouse Davis Mountains
Came across this titmouse with an oddly curved tail in the Davis Mountains. Hope they grow in straight next time, buddy!!

Something I just learned: male Bushtit dark eyes, female light.
Dung Beetles Davis Mountains
You gotta love a woman who responds with a huge enthusiastic grin, gets her shoes on, and follows you outside when you say “We have dung beetles!!!!”!! We were delighted to see 3 of these little dudes rolling their business at our place near Fort Davis!!!
