Lance and I seem to have a tradition of close encounters of the peregrination kind on our gull scouting expedition to galveston and vicinity!! This was point blank at Texas City Dike.
It was also nice to run into Cin-ty lee at this stop and tell him how much I appreciate his and Andrew Birch’s work on flycatchers!!!!
On our scout trip Lance and I stopped at Davis Estates Road near Brazos Bend SP. I had heard about this location but never stopped before. It had the 2 things that gulls really love: water and landfill!!! We spent about an hour gazing upward at gulls!! Access to viewing the small lakes is poor…
A few from Galveston
Several places on the Gulls Field trip we had very large numbers of birds. Here’s only 1/2 of a huge flight of cormorants that flew by us on the Texas city Dike. Anybody volunteer to count them?
What a great trip to the coast with the 2022 TAS Shorebird Class!!! Highlights for me were the Aplomado falcons and Elegant Tern (life bird!!), as well as the good company of bird nerds !!
