Who am I? (Fort Davis area).

I’m not at home, but neighbor asking me about “ those birds flying over in V formation “ = Sandhills. Eyes to the skies!! And ears!! My favorite sound!!!
And so it goes — Grackles are next. They’re actually fun on the Bolivar Peninsula!! (you’re on you own for females (ask the males)).
Here’s a courtship or territorial display of the Cooper’s Hawk. He climbed higher and higher and spread white feathers at the base of the tail, then very deliberately flapped wings up all the way , then all the way down. Cool sight to see!! LE Woods picnic grounds, Davis Mountains, 3/17/25.
Several first of season for me today at my place. Cranes, w throat sparrow, hermit thrush, mr Lincoln, spot towhee and just now woodcock. It don’t hurt much
Great observation practice lance!!!
Thanks to Suzie for getting me on this article by Kenn Kaufman that explains White-throated Sparrows morphs. Fascinating!! Audubon Magazine Article
