Road to No Where (Marfa Area)
Other than not finding Baird’s (yet) I am finding good sparrows. Here’s a few pix from Marfa vicinity for ya’ll to ID. I’ve had 13 species so far.

We dipped on the Henslows yesterday in the wind (I shall return!!), but Lance, Flo and I had a good day hunting through Aggie land marshes and sod farms. Highlights: Great looks at colorful swamp, song, Leconte’s and Savannah sparrows and poor looks (through cameras and hand held scope) of a handful of very distant…
Stopped at Sandia Wetlands near Balmorhea for another shorebird fix. 6 species of shorebirds. Phalaropes are just so photogenic!!
A few trans-Pecos birds.
So I watched this Lark Sparrow at L.E. Wood Picnic area in Davis Mnts for about 20 minutes. I couldn’t tell what he/she was up to until I checked the pix on PC. Gathering hairs!!!! For nesting I presume. What eyesight these critters have!!!
Welcome to B3 — Be a Better Beetle!! I’ve been trying to catch one of these guys for 2 years out in Davis Mountains!! Finally nabbed one with a butterfly net. Photographed and released. They are super swift and maneuverable!! I believe it’s called an Emerald Euphoria, which is such a great name for these…
Missed these guys at Sparrowfest this year, so enjoyed them in the Trans Pecos!!
