Eric and I had an interesting time during April watching the radar for birds and especially cold fronts that might mean a fallout.
I may be wrong, but I think this radar depiction shows migrating birds (light blue) and then an approaching cold front (April 20, 2025). The birds seem to shy away from the weather and then go off the radar — meaning (I think) they land to avoid the rain.
On Saturday Eric texted me about Franklin’s gulls at Hornsby and I was sorry to miss. But on Sunday driving back from Dallas I hit the mother-lode!!!! I watched for at least 45 minutes and guestimated 3000-4000 gulls went by!! What a blast!!! And you’ll never guess the wonderful nature setting where I witnessed this………………………………….

Next few nights look good for migration through Texas!! I’ll be down at Hornsby ponds from about 7:00-10:00am tomorrow if anyone wants to join me.
