Shorebirds Field Trip Corpus

Regretfully we were a little short on SHORE for he shorebirds class field trip to corpus over the weekend. But I think we enjoyed it none the less and ended up with around 20 shorebird species!!

Highlights for me were seeing a Cassin’s Kingbird at Blucher park, more Red Knots than I’ve ever seen ~20, hearing Tropical and Couch’s kingbirds at the same time, having Lance “Aplomado” Felber find our target falcon for about the 4th or 5th year, and all the comments of “That’s a lifer”!!! from participants!! At some points we thought it was a warbler field trip!!! We also saw about 3000 specks of pepper in the morning sky, which somebody described as “Broad-winged Hawks”.

Need a few more students for the I Don’t Do Gulls Gulls Class, so if you are on the fence, better jump in this year as I likely won’t teach it for a couple of years. Other great classes are also here or in the works
