Last week Virginia and I made the trip out to S. Llano SP for the Rufous-backed Robin that’s been hanging out there. We were 95% sure we heard it, but it never came into water feature on that chilly and gray day.
So I went back on 2/17/25 and got the full treatment. In addition to 2 views at the feeders I had the bird near the road and parking lot.
This is about the 30th occurrence of this beautiful species in Texas. Its normal range is SW Mexico.
Allan and I had a good commune with the Glaucous Gull in Corpus yesterday. (Missed the Iceland Gull there for the 4th time).

We happened to be in Corpus over the weekend so stopped in to see this Brown Noddy that had been hanging around. Sadly he was taken in for rehab just after we saw, but later died.
Completed my 15th Sparrowfest yesterday, which was the 20th overall for the event. Sparrow numbers remain low in CenTex, but we still managed about 16 species for the group including Lark Bunting and Brewer’s Sparrow.
