We have at least 3 rufous hummers at our Fort Davis place. The notch in R2 (2nd tail feather (retrices) from the middle) in one of the pix is diagnostic. Full adult male just showed up!! (more pix to come)
Lance and I dipped on our target in corpus yesterday: Black noddy, but got better looks at lawn ornaments.
Completed my 15th Sparrowfest yesterday, which was the 20th overall for the event. Sparrow numbers remain low in CenTex, but we still managed about 16 species for the group including Lark Bunting and Brewer’s Sparrow. We had a nice field trip to Hornsby this morning to finish up the Spring Shorebird Class!!. 12 species of shorebird, plus 2 gull and 1 tern species. Some of us also had a bonus bird near the end of the field trip. White-rumped sandpipers are the stars of the show right now, but I…
