Gulls in DFW
White Rock spillway in Dallas did Jeff’s Texas gull rule one better: yielding 100% ring billed.
I did a little better at lake ray Hubbard this evening. Have a look at these 2 bad, distant digiscoped pix. Thoughts?

I’ll also put in a plug for my “I don’t do gulls” gulls class. Starts in November when gulls generally start coming into Texas. I did the rudiments of Texas gulls in the B3 class. But I am developing additional material for this class. I will repeat the Texas-centric gull-ing, but I’m also hoping to…
Gull #8 (same date location). Species? Age? Ok, I’m done for now. Now it’s time for Class of 2024 to ID!! Gull #8 Adult Bonaparte’s. Note white leading edge, and black trailing edge of wing. Below is a reminder of a 1st winter Bonaparte’s
Looks like a glaucous winged is in Amarillo (from NA gulls fb page).
Allan and I had a good commune with the Glaucous Gull in Corpus yesterday. (Missed the Iceland Gull there for the 4th time).
Seriously thinking about taking my yak out onto White Rock Lake next time!!! (For the gulls, not the girls!!) Roosting on the water in 1000s and weren’t disturbed by the rowers.
More from the PacNW. I’ve been thinking of the many Western GUlls as “big birds” (58″ wingspan), but they were dwarfed as they escorted this eagle on its way. Eagle’s are 80″ wingspan. Also had gloaming fly-bys of Murrelet’s, Marbled I presume, but couldn’t be sure.
