Red Knot (molting into alternate)

The Red Knot is a large, stocky, straight-billed sandpiper. Its alternate plumage can be spectacular but is seldom seen in Texas. The photos below show Red Knots in various stages of molting into alternate plumage during their spring migration.

Red Knot (basic)

Red Knot is an infrequent visitor to the Texas Coast in fall and occasionally in winter. It is shown here in basic plumage in fall and winter.
