I’ve been trying to catch one of these guys for 2 years out in Davis Mountains!! Finally nabbed one with a butterfly net. Photographed and released.
They are super swift and maneuverable!! I believe it’s called an Emerald Euphoria, which is such a great name for these beautiful insects!! They seem to glow when the sun hits them!!!
Had 13 shorebird species at Lake Balmorhea this morning. American Avocet, Less Yellowlegs, Greater Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper, Snowy Plover, Killdeer, Spotted Sandpiper, Long-billed Curlew, Upland Sandpiper, Black-necked stilt, Solitary Sandpiper, Wilson’s Phalarope, and Western Sandpiper. Love these colorful, chunky grasshoppers in Davis Mountains this time of year. They’re called Plains Lubber Grasshoppers. Also a couple of young birds for someone to ID.
Came across this titmouse with an oddly curved tail in the Davis Mountains. Hope they grow in straight next time, buddy!!
