Went hunting for shorebirds at Lake Buchanan this morning. Looks like lots of shorebird habitat all around the lake, but I only found 1 Killdeer, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 2 flyover Upland Sandpipers and 7 Avocets. Here’s hoping more stop in next time.

Here’s my Shorebird Scorecard for the last 5 weeks. 21 species at Hornsby and 34 of 38 regularly occurring species overall. Stopped at Sandia Wetlands near Balmorhea for another shorebird fix. 6 species of shorebirds. Phalaropes are just so photogenic!!
