Shorebird time of Year
After gulls and flysnatchers, I’m starting to think of shorebirds again! This pix didn’t make the cut in the TAS Greg Lasley photo contest, but it was one of my favorites I took during birdathon.

Here’s my Shorebird Scorecard for the last 5 weeks. 21 species at Hornsby and 34 of 38 regularly occurring species overall. Here’s a comparison of Semipalmated with a Least. So I think we can see actual black legs here on this sandpiper. It’s a short-winged bird; wings are just atop tail. Granger Lake Migration
I had a great time at Granger Lake yesterday, sitting solo by the swim area watching migration go by!! No gulls at the swim area, but good numbers flying by and at 2 poorly accessible roosts.
