This guy will be one of the first North American birds to be renamed under the “bird names for birds” initiative. “Desert Oriole” may be considered. I’d call it the “Lemon Oriole”.
Lance and I dipped on our target in corpus yesterday: Black noddy, but got better looks at lawn ornaments.

Stopped at Sandia Wetlands near Balmorhea for another shorebird fix. 6 species of shorebirds. Phalaropes are just so photogenic!!

I estimated 330 Wilson’s phalarope at Hornsby in this flock, about 100 in a 2nd flock yesterday. 12 shorebird species.
