Group 4 Calidris Peeps – Baird’s Sandpiper


Baird’s Sandpiper (worn basic & emerging alternate)

The Baird’s Sandpiper can be seen in Central Texas in both the fall and spring migration. The brown rump of the Baird’s as well as the long, crossed primaries can be seen in the photos below. Also note the medium-length, fine-tipped, slightly-down-curved bill — similar to the Least’s bill.
