Good News/Bad News
Good news/bad news from my first trip to Hornsby during fall migration.
Good: Fall migration is here!!!
Good: lots of floating mud habitat at Hornsby.
Good: Lots of shorebirds — 1000 plus I estimated.
Good: temp is manageable from 6:30-10:00am or so.
Good: lots of Stilt and whistle duck chicks.
Bad: flies were worse than usual and biting (I’ll wear long pants and shirt next time).
Bad: shorebirds were out in the middle of pond 1W.
Bad: with all the brush and no rain — no shorebird habitat in drying beds. But if we get a shower……
Can you name the 4 shorebird species that I call “The Big 4” at Hornsby? I don’t think I ever miss seeing them there.
