Trans Pecos Birds
A few trans-Pecos birds.

A few trans-Pecos birds.

First from Lake Balmorhea, 2nd from Choke Canyon Reservoir. ID?
No pix, but I stopped in Sandia Wetlands yesterday and had Upland sandpipers, LB Curlew, BN Stilts, Killdeer, Less Yellowlegs, and Solitary sandpipers. Nice place to for a short stop if you are in the vicinity of Balmorhea, texas. Very close to I-10. Also had Upland sandpipers over the davis mountains every few minutes in…
Here’s a couple of pix I thought a little unusual. 2 male Vermillions on territory but amicably sitting close together — Maybe family? And 11 Blue Grosbeaks in a flock (not all pictured) – maybe migrating? I’ve never seen more than 2 together that I recall.
Other than not finding Baird’s (yet) I am finding good sparrows. Here’s a few pix from Marfa vicinity for ya’ll to ID. I’ve had 13 species so far.
Adult male Rufous.
Missed these guys at Sparrowfest this year, so enjoyed them in the Trans Pecos!!
