Virginia and I made a quick trip to corpus yesterday for 3 gulls and a duck. Our score on target birds? 0 for 4!! But none the less a great day!!! Baird’s Sparrow NO
Been hunting for Baird’s Sparrow south of Marfa. Had 8 bogies, but can’t get them to sit up. Here’s the best “view” of a possible I’ve had. The quest continues!!! (Note: there’s no bird in the photo).
High Island Termite Hatch
Our group in High Island really enjoyed this hatch of termites in Smith Oaks!! Brought in many passerines. I guess we spent 30 minutes watching.
Nutting’s Flycatcher Big Bend
Spent about 4 hours on morning of November 9 staking out Santa Elena canyon overlook with a buddy and some pleasant fellow birders trying to see nutting’s flycatcher. Had to settle for heard only but we heard it about 10 times and have no doubts.
