Got bird # 149 at the Dacha recently (found by Mary)
We have at least 3 rufous hummers at our Fort Davis place. The notch in R2 (2nd tail feather (retrices) from the middle) in one of the pix is diagnostic. Full adult male just showed up!! (more pix to come)
These guys are pests to native species, but there is some interesting plumage this time of year.
Davis Mountains in May. Can anyone ID?
Here’s some more bad photos for perusal. Bird 1. Thanks to all who are posting and commenting!!! Just what I hoped for.
I enjoyed Cin Ty Lee’s presentation on Empids at TOS!! He’s got some good material on his website: http://www.cintylee.org/#/guiding-services/ I also notice that Butter Butt’s are scarfing down crushed pecans in the street in several locations.
