Here’s a pix I’m diggin as I prep for Class 2 of Gulls Class!! (I feel real bad for those of you who are missing the fun of studying gulls!!)
Well I’ve been out gulling most days this week. Staying at my sister’s who lives near a favorite gull location on Lake Ray Hubbard. I’ve been looking for, and thought I’d found, variously Iceland gull (Thayers), California Gull, and today a great black backed gull. I couldn’t sit still with so many rare birds present in Texas — especially when one was a first state record Gull !!!! So I opted for Amarillo (rather than RGV at the moment). I put in 8 hours of stakeout time for the Yellow-footed Gull in Amarillo yesterday and today and it paid off…

We have at least 3 rufous hummers at our Fort Davis place. The notch in R2 (2nd tail feather (retrices) from the middle) in one of the pix is diagnostic. Full adult male just showed up!! (more pix to come)
